Last time we visited the Greek myths, we learned that Theseus had, for some reason, abandoned his lady lovely Ariadne on the Isle of Naxos. Upon waking, she had placed the curse on him that indirectly lead to the death of his father, thus ensuring Theseus became the next King of Athens (a bit of a mixed blessing, that. Kind of like the old Monkey Paw).
While living a life of refuge on the island, Ariadne was discovered by Dionysus, the God of Wine and son of Zeus and Semele (or Persephone, depending on which tabloid you're reading). Together they had a son, Oenopion. Ariadne's fate here is split amongst two converse stories: she either hung herself from a tree, or she was killed by Perseus--the mythic hero who also killed Medusa.
Either way...dead she was.
But, just like in the comic books, nobody stays dead for long. Dionysus traveled into Hades to find both her and his mother. He picked them up like luggage at the baggage claim and took them back with him, this time taking them to Olympus where they could live with the gods.
And seeing as how Dionysus was the God of Wine, it's a pretty safe bet that a good time was had by all. At least until the next morning. A hungover god is an angry god...
